Peter Davidson pays $7.5M for two Citadel FMs in Rhode Island and will go Spanish on one.
Davidson says "for the first time the Providence area will have full-market coverage Spanish radio on the FM dial, 24 hours a day." Looks like that’ll be the current classic rock WKKB, Middletown, RI (100.3).
The other station Peter’s getting (in a somewhat complicated deal) is "Hot" WAKX, Narragansett Pier (102.7). At the moment it’s simulcasting Citadel’s "Hot 106" WWKX — and thus simulcasting Howard Stern.
Citadel had originally tried to buy WAKX from AAA Entertainment but that app was held up by the Commission. Buyer Peter Davidson says the Super Max Radio Group assisted in the transaction.
And tells Inside Radio "While the rest of the world is uncertain if they like radio or not and is scared by the specter of satellite, I still believe that radio is a powerful medium that delivers results at a great value."
