Kansas City One of First Cities in U.S. to Simultaneously Televise Professional Soccer in Spanish and English  - August 15 , 2007

Kansas City, Mo. (August 15, 2007) - On August 19, the Kansas City Wizards will become one of the first professional soccer teams in the country to have its games simultaneously televised in Spanish and English. Thanks to Time Warner Cable's Metro Sports, most Kansas City Wizards games will be broadcast in English on one channel at the same time they're televised in Spanish on a second channel. In addition, the games will continue to be carried on local Spanish language radio station KDTD-AM (La Gran D 1340), which is providing the Spanish-speaking announcers for the TV broadcasts.

"This historic initiative sends out a strong, positive message to Spanish-speaking fans of the Kansas City Wizards and Major League Soccer," says Wizards Director of Latino Relations Leobardo Prieto. "We are fortunate to have great, supportive partners such as Time Warner Cable's Metro Sports and La Gran D that recognize the importance of bringing entertainment to the Hispanic community of Kansas City. We are not only setting the trend in Major League Soccer, but setting the standard for the league with all of our new Spanish-language programming for all of our fans."

The introduction of all-inclusive Spanish language coverage of Kansas City Wizards games occurs during a year when the Wizards have dedicated themselves to the region's Latino soccer fans. "This partnership represents another significant step in our efforts to reach out to our friends in the Latino community," says Wizards Executive Vice President Greg Cotton.

John Denison, General Manager of Time Warner Cable's Metro Sports, says he is proud to make Kansas City one of the first markets to simultaneously broadcast professional soccer games in English and Spanish.

"We are very excited to present Wizards soccer to Time Warner Cable subscribers en Espanol,â" Denison says. "Since it was the right thing to do, it was actually quite simple to work out an arrangement with the Wizards and the Reyes Media Group, owners of La Gran D 1340, to present this content to our subscribers."

Kansas City Wizards games will be carried on local Time Warner Cable channels 30, 5 and 20. Assignments will vary as to which channel will carry the game in English and which channel will broadcast in Spanish. Six of Seven English-language broadcasts will be carried live on Metro Sports.

The Kansas City Division of Time Warner Cable has a long history of innovative sports broadcasting. Ten years ago, it introduced Metro Sports, which remains the nation's first and only sports station of its kind. Unique in the United States, Time Warner Cable Cable's Metro Sports will produce the games. The following Wizards games will air in Kansas City on Time Warner Cable this season:
