Finalists have been announced for the first-ever Medallas de Cortez, which recognize excellence in Hispanic radio broadcasting. The awards are named in honor of Raoul Cortez, who founded the United States' first Spanish-language radio station, KCOR, in 1946, and will be presented during the inaugural Radio Ink Hispanic Conference in San Antonio, May 22-23.
Peter Davidson, president of Davidson Media Group, has been nominated in the Broadcaster of the Year category. Under his watch, DMG has grown to include 29 Spanish stations in 22 markets.
Yadira Hernandez, general manager of DMG's WFNO in New Orleans, has been nominated in the GM category for markets 11+.
“The quality and diversity of nominations for the Medallas de Cortez are truly outstanding. Each one demonstrates the professionalism and dedication of Hispanic radio to its listeners,” said conference coordinator Deborah Parenti. |
