Davidson Media Group’s two-year buying spree is nearly over.  - November 13, 2006

Peter Davidson tells Inside Radio “we’re in the markets I wanted to be in” so “we’re slowing down.” This is Peter’s second run around the track. He sold his first group to Entravision and then launched DMG about two years ago. Now Davidson’s up to 43 stations in 30 markets. Peter’s done 10 closings this year alone. Now the focus is on selling the platform to advertisers. Two-thirds of DMG’s stations air Spanish-language formats and Davidson calls it “missionary selling.” That’s because many of his stations are the first Spanish-language stations ever in their market. Amazingly — big guys Univision, SBS and Entravision don’t operate in any of his markets. So “it’s longer-term selling” since they must spend time educating buyers. The same’s true for Interep’s McGavren Guild — which began repping DMG last March.
