Vernon Baker's Positive Radio Group is selling a six pack of Carolina AM stations in North Carolina and one in South Carolina, with four of them distributed amongst North Carolina's three largest markets. Baker's group is in mostly smaller markets in the mid-Atlantic region, mainly in Virginia and North Carolina. It also has a presence in several other bordering states, reaching as far inland as Kentucky and Ohio. It employs a variety of formats, but with a strong religious undercurrent. For $8.375M, Davidson is getting a duopoly in Raleigh-Durham and four standalones in other markets. The contract broke out valuations for each station, so here goes: In Raleigh, WFTK AM Wake Forest is going for $2.25M and WTIK AM for $1.1M. In Charlotte, WNOW AM Mint Hill is going for $2M. In Greensboro-Winton Salem, WSGH AM Lewisville is fetching $1.25M In unrated Claremont, North Carolina, WCXN AM is priced at $1M. Claremont is near Hickory, North Carolina and about 45 miles northwest of Charlotte. In unrated York, South Carolina, WBZK AM is set at $750K. York is about 30 miles southwest of Charlotte. |
