Providence, with 2,022, has the largest number of Latino businesses in Rhode Island
The number of Hispanic businesses in the state rose 56 percent, to 3,415, generating $213.7 million in revenue by 2002, according to the Census Bureau.
The number of Hispanic-owned businesses in Rhode Island grew more than five times the national average for all businesses between 1997 and 2002 -- among the fastest in the nation, according to data released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau.
