Hispanic Overview

  • South Carolina has the fastest growing Hispanic population in the U.S. over the past year with an increase of 8.37% - the largest in the nation.
  • Outdated census figures show just shy of 169,000 Hispanics in the state……………….BUT
  • Researchers at the University of South Carolina’s consortium for Latino Immigration Studies estimate that in 2007, South Carolina’s total Hispanic population was actually closer to 500,000.
  • Approximately 50% are of Mexican decent while the rest are mainly from Columbia, Costa Rica and Peru.
  • WOLI/FM ‘Super Impacto 103.9’ is a Regional Mexican format with elements of news/talk/sports and community information.
  • WOLI 910AM is a Spanish Inspirational station.
  • The Greenville-Spartanburg radio metro is made up of four counties – Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson and Pickens – in order of population. Metro 12+ population is approximately 1,000,000.
  • A few Charlotte radio stations do spill into the market. A prime example is Regional Mexican WNOW/FM 105.3FM – also in the Davidson Media Group Family.
